A) I wouldn't pay a fee but would take a look at the individual cruise line's web site, some of them have a section for employment opportunities. I think I've seem a publication in the reference library which covers working abroad and cruises. Good Luck!Cruise Liner Employment Question's?Q) It's interesting that while being presumably employed by an agency, the cruise liner ship itself will be out of the United Kingdom. Evidently, the ship will have left port and the Island.
Does anyone know if liner staff are exempt from paying tax on monthly wages? I'm a British Citizen, and reside in the South.
I've a list of respectable cruise liners, but to know about tax exmption would go a long way in making a final decision as to whether to plump for such circumstances; i.e at sea without access to the normailities that most of us take for granted.
Has anyone worked on a crusie liner lately? Input welcome.
A) If you enter British water within a 3 month time period you are entitled to pay tax, N.I etc even if it only for 48 hrs.
If you can stay out of the U.K for a minimum of 9 months of the year I think you do not have to pay tax altho the liner docking will negate that possibility.
Those were the rules basically 10 years ago
how to gain employment on cruise ships.name of some agencies?A) http://www.cruiseshipjob.com/Is this Cruise Ship Employment Agent genuine?Q) I have applied for employment on cruise ships to an agent in Australia. Since they have responded and now request me to register with a fee, I would like to be sure of the existence of such an agent so as to avoid being cheated. The address of the agent is as follows:
Cruise Line Resources Pty Ltd
PO Box 210, Fortitude Valley, QLD 4006
Australia.
email: cruisecrew@hotmail.com
website: www.cruisecrew.com
Would appreciate if I could get a genuine reply.
A) It may be legitimate, but there is no reason to pay a fee.
Contact the cruise companies directly, for example, I went to the Norwegian Cruise Line site (www.ncl.com) and it has a link for employment right on the welcome page. Why do you need to go through an agency?Cruise ship employment? Security?Q) Just looking for some tips/advice about getting into cruise ship career.....done some research and know about long hours and months at sea but with free room/board and other travel positives. Been in security field for about 2 1/2 years at a 5 star luxury hotel/condo...curious how competitive ship security market is? I know that some lines have contracts to employ national candidates but what are some ships that have higher american employment ratios? any personal experience or helpful tips that can point me in the right direciton would be appreciated. Thanks Take it easy :)
A) But you didn't say of your research whether you had contacted cruise lines. So I listed some web sites below.. I also listed a cruise line jobs site.
I have heard, but not verified, that Norwegian Cruise line had problems finding people to work its HAwaii cruises. Apparently the line wanted or needed to hire HAwaiians but didn't get many people applying. I don't know if this is still the case, but its worth checking with NCL about.
I have been on many cruises and almost all of the security people whom I have seen on entering and leaving ships have been Polynesian, not American. That's not to say that you cannot get hired, but that's just what I have observed.where can i apply for inboard employment on carnival cruise ships?Q) planning to apply as a casino card dealer
A) Here is the carnival employment page: http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Fun_Jobs/ccl_fun_jobs_landing.aspx
There is a link for casino jobs, which leads you here:
http://www.oceancasinojobs.com/How do I get salon cruise ship employment?preferably U.S. agencies?Q) I am a hair stylist wanting to get into the cruise ship business. I had no luck with it before when I tried because all the consessionaries are based out of other countries. Can someone tell me who to talk to?
A) I would contact the Steiner Education Group..many of their massage, and facial students get employment on the cruise lines. You could also try contacting each of the Cruise Lines directly.
Good Luck!Is there a 1(800) number for cruise ship employment?Q) I would like to find more information on how I would be able to bring my dependent with me if I do get employed on a cruise line.
A) It's a tougher gig than you might think. the turnarounds are so fast now, there's no time to really enjoy yourself. It would get old fast.I am seeking employment on a cruise ship as a Youth director or social host. What is the fastest&efftcive way?Q) I have the experience working with children and teens. I would like to work for any company besides carnival as they have a high turn around.
A) You have two options. Go to each cruise lines web site and click on Human resources/jobs or whatever link they show for employment. Or check out this cruise line jobs web site:
http://www.cruisejobfinder.com/fm/cruise...
Most of the cruise lines have programs for kids so you can really shop around. You will probably have to sign a contract for a six to nine months tour of duty.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en...Does anyone know anything about massage therapist employment on a cruise ship such as benefits, days off , etcA) Well first it's very very difficult to get work on a cruise ship since for every open position there are 1000 people that want the job. Also most cruise lines are not based in America so they don't have to follow American Labor Laws. As far as Massage Therapists go most of your income will come from passenger tips. The cruise liners usually pay between 15 and 25k a year to the therapists. Your days off are the days between cruises and in some cases there is no paid vacation. Benefits vary from cruise line to cruise line so that's something that would require a bit more research.where do i find information on employment aboard a ship, but not a cruise ship?A) Navy recruit office?Anyone know of any cruise ship jobs? Or reliable cruise ship job sites? Or anyone work on a cruise ship?Q) I need to find a site for cruise ship jobs, or any kind of cruise ship employment agency in Canada. Or any info would be great. Thanks so much!!
A) Acorn is right, Casinos are a good department, but depending on your destination tips can be poor or ilegal (UK Casinos do not allow tipping).
Casino dealers, Gift Shop attendants, Spa personnel, Photographers are all STAFF, rather than crew.
They get better cabins, better status onboard, access to pax areas, etc.
I did ships 10 years, most in the shops, salaries are ok and working hours are not bad at all since you can´t open the shops while in port.
Seadays you work 12 hours or so, but all ports you can go out etc.
2 major companies run the shops on 80% or 90% of the ships
they are:
www.hardingbros.co.uk
(uk based, has some 40 ships, better work environement, better salary)
or
http://www.starboardcruise.com/
US based,
I didnt like the work place, too much competition.
But they are bigger, some 80 ships.
At Hardings you make comission if the whole team makes a certain target, at starboard there are individual targets, makes the workplace heavier in my opinion.
Hardings hires with phone enterviews, send your resume trhu the site, they set up a time/date for you to call, thats it.
You´ll need a STCW-95 (basic sea survival, 3 day course)
If you need more help, feel free to ask.
